Janis Anzalone creates a range of work from large abstract paintings on canvas to expressive botanicals on paper. Her art has been influenced by ancient frescoes and tiles, vintage botanical drawings, her background in textile design and a deep reverence for nature. Her nuanced attention to texture, line, color and shape allows her to carve away everything non-essential, opening passageways to quiet contemplation.
Janis lives and works in Marin County, California. When she is not in her studio painting, she enjoys hiking the neighboring hills and mentoring young adults on the autism spectrum.
